NEW ALBANY, Ohio, September 26, 2019 – Marburn Academy’s Board of Trustees announced that Eldrich A. Carr, III has been appointed Head of School effective July 1, 2020. Carr will be the 5th Head of School at Marburn Academy in its 38-year history.

Carr’s appointment is the culmination of an extensive nationwide search by John Littleford & Associates and a Search Committee comprised of Marburn Trustees, parents, faculty and school administrators. After consideration of an experienced and diverse pool of candidates, Carr was introduced to the Marburn community in mid-September. Following a final round of interviews with Marburn constituents and upon extensive review of stakeholder feedback, an offer was extended this week.

“We are delighted Eldrich A. Carr, III will be our next Head of School,” said Brian K. Hicks, Marburn Academy Board Chair. “Mr. Carr’s deep commitment to education, experience in the learning differences arena along with his collaborative leadership style made him our clear candidate of choice. It’s an exciting time for Marburn Academy, and we are confident Mr. Carr will build upon the successes of the past and lead us to new heights.”

Currently Carr serves as the Principal at Springer School and Center in Cincinnati. Prior to his service at Springer, Carr held a series of positions with increasing responsibility at Cincinnati Country Day School. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston University and a master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Columbia University.

“The chance to lead, support, and cultivate a school community like Marburn is an extraordinary opportunity for any educator,” said Carr. “In our short time getting to know Marburn, my wife Liz and I have encountered exceptional students, devoted families, committed faculty and staff and an engaged board willing to partner with one another to execute the school’s mission with passion and fidelity. We are excited, committed, and looking forward to the journey ahead.”

Carr currently resides in Cincinnati with his wife and two young children.
