Orton Gillingham Tutor – Part Time
Part-Time Orton-Gillingham (OG) Tutor
Marburn Academy, an independent day school devoted to serving the educational needs of students who learn differently in New Albany, Ohio. The OG Tutors will support the delivery of academic services to students in grades 2-12 using the Orton-Gillingham Approach — a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling do not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia.
Experience
Implement the principles of Orton-Gillingham instruction, a structured literacy approach based on the science of reading.
Participate in meetings as needed
Complete required readings and submit summaries to reflect understanding.
Develop lesson plans in alignment with the Orton-Gillingham Approach.
Analyze student performance data and report on student progress.
Skills

Qualifications
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
Hold an Ohio teacher or classroom aid licensure
Currently trained in Orton-Gillingham with a minimum of classroom certification
Strong organization and communication (written and verbal) skills
Passion for serving culturally diverse populations
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Openness to feedback and collaboration
Physical Requirement
Ability to stand, traverse for extended periods of time two plus hours or more
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time of two plus hours
Ability to visually detect, observe and recognize
Verbally and audibly communicate and exchange information with ability to position oneself to do so
Ability to move, lift and position:
Regularly up to 10lbs
Frequently up to 11lbs-30lbs
Occasionally over 30lbs
Rarely up to 50lbs with assistance as required
Hours
Monday – Friday, three hours per day from July 7th to July 30th
