Jacqueline Nelson

Jacqueline Nelson is an experienced equity practitioner and progressive educator who has taught in and worked with K-12, co-ed and single-gender independent schools for over a decade. With a master’s in General and Special Early Childhood Education from Bank Street School of Education, Jacqueline spent seven years teaching kindergarten. She presently serves as Director of Equity and Inclusion at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, Connecticut and is a member of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) Commission on Diversity at Independent Schools (CODIS). With a resolute commitment to DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging), Jacqueline joined the Pollyanna team in the summer of 2021. Leveraging her skills as an early childhood educator and trained SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) facilitator, Jacqueline consults with various organizations interested in the pursuit of inclusive excellence via student and adult race-based affinity groups, K-12 anti-bias curriculum design, professional development centered around culturally responsive teaching, or DEI parent engagement.
