Tutoring
Marburn Academy's “All-At-Once” instructional model is designed to provide optimum class groupings for the remediation of skill deficits, and it clearly does that. But occasionally there is a child for whom even the best group instruction does not produce the rate of progress we seek. In the past, with all of our teachers fully scheduled, we simply weren’t able to make tutorial time available for such students.
In response to parents' requests, we have scheduled a skilled Orton-Gillingham tutor to offer 1-to-1 or small group tutoring during each school day. Students can receive tutoring from two to four times weekly for a fee of $65.00/session. We can to accommodate 10-15 students during the school year.
As space permits, we can offer this kind of tutorial to former Marburn students who have transitioned. Tutorials will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
This change in emphasis has resulted in a significant step forward in the school’s ability to provide for students who need more than the daily small group-based language instruction can provide. For the first time, the school has the ability to offer an experienced tutor during the school day to families who need or want more individual Orton-Gillingham instruction. Financial aid is available to families who need assistance, as funding permits.
Marburn Academy can also offer a limited amount of tutoring to the Central Ohio community either during school hours or after school.
