Financial Aid

Financial Aid at Marburn Academy

Marburn Academy is committed to maintaining a diverse student body broadly representative of the surrounding community, and therefore seeks to enroll qualified students who might not have the family resources for an independent education. As part of the annual budgeting process, Marburn Academy’s Board of Trustees sets tuition for the coming year at the predicted actual cost per student of operating the school. With Marburn Academy’s low student to teacher ratio (4 to 1) and small class size, it is inevitable that the cost of providing the school’s program will exceed that of schools with traditional ratios of 18, 20, or 24 students to each teacher. Recognizing this, the Board is deeply committed to helping parents manage the cost of the special teaching their children need to succeed in school.

Students at Marburn AcademyThis commitment is reflected in the fact that Marburn Academy conducts vigorous fund raising campaigns each year to support a substantial financial aid program. Awards to first year students are based on a detailed calculation of the family’s level of financial need considered in relation to the total pool of financial aid funds available to the school at the time of request. In subsequent years, evidence of the student’s level of investment and commitment to the program will be considered along with the level of need and the pool of funds. The financial aid package will include a direct scholarship grant as well as a provision to cover a portion of the tuition through a low interest, deferred payment tuition loan program administered by the school.
